Privacy policy
Last updated: 6 July 2026
In short
- We collect only what's needed to run your account and your orders.
- The store you order from sees your order — that's how it gets packed.
- Your card details are handled by our payment provider, never stored by us.
- We never sell your personal information. No advertising trackers.
- Ask us anytime to see, fix or delete your data: support@basko.au.
This policy explains how Basko (basko.au) handles your personal information, in line with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles. We've written it to be read, not skimmed past.
What information do we collect?
Your account details: your name, email address and password (stored securely — we can never see your password).
Your location, if you share it: the suburb or address you shop from, so we can show stores that actually serve you. You can use the site without sharing your precise location.
Your orders: what you bought, from which store, and how you chose to receive it.
Payment: handled by our payment provider. Your card number never touches our systems and we never store it.
If you run a store: your business name, address, contact details and what you sell.
How do we use it?
To do the job you asked us to do: show you nearby stores, pass your order to the store, take payment when the store confirms, and send you receipts and order updates.
To keep the marketplace honest: reviews are tied to real completed orders, and we monitor for fraud.
To improve the service: we look at how the site is used in aggregate — not to build a profile of you.
To send you helpful emails, like order updates (always) and a weekly local specials digest (only if you opt in — every email has an unsubscribe link).
How long do we keep your information?
While your account is active, plus what Australian tax and consumer law requires us to keep (for example, order and invoice records). If you close your account, we delete or de-identify the rest.
What are your rights?
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete your account and data. Email support@basko.au — we handle these requests ourselves and don’t make it hard.
If you believe we’ve mishandled your information and we haven’t fixed it, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).
What if this policy changes?
If we make a meaningful change, we’ll update this page and tell account holders by email before it takes effect. The date at the top always shows when it was last updated.
